Electronic Arts and Epic Games have confirmed that the Redwood company has licensed Unreal Engine 3 for use in a selection of next-generation titles. EA becomes the latest licensee of Unreal Engine 3, which has become 'the' next-gen engine for many publishers including THQ, Vivendi Games, Atari, and Buena Vista Games - though the company stresses that the technology will be used in tandem with proprietary engines.
Paul Lee, President of EA studios commented, "At EA, we give our development teams the tools they need to make great games. We license cutting edge tools like the Unreal Engine 3 and combine them with our own systems to create state-of-the-art development technology."
