Exclusive: TGTSoft answers concerns

Newcomers to the skinning scene TGTSoft has seen alot of popularity lately with it's upcoming skinbuilder for XP. The problem with all of that is one small thing. They do it using a hacked version of "uxtheme.dll". The thing is that hacking the uxtheme.dll violates the DMCA and is punishable by law as we have seen in the Dymitri Skylarov case brought on by Adobe for hacking their eBook format. It seems that if they don't find a different approach fast they're going to be coding from jail cell. Quote from Wincustomize.com

We asked Tony Stratton of TGTSoft what his response would be for our readers on Neowin who are very pleased with the release on StylesXP.

He said: "The DCMA is to protect the illegal displaying of copyrighted material that you don't own. We can NOT create or distribute software that allows users to steal copyrighted material.

Skylarov cannot create or distribute software that allows users to steal text out of E-Books. He does not own the copyright to the contents of the book.

Our product does the complete opposite thing.

Obviously, TGT Soft has the copyright to toothpaste. We are creating and distributing software that allows for the displaying of a Style that we own. We want you to see it!

On a second note, StyleBuilder will go Beta next week! Hold one to your hats!"

So there you have it! StylesXP is here to stay, and that makes me happy!
