The ATIV S Windows Phone 8 smartphone that was announced by Samsung at its Unpacked event at IFA 2012 is now available to preorder through Expansys in both the USA and Italy, however a price for the device is yet to be announced.
The ATIV S is the first smartphone to feature Windows Phone 8 (yes before Nokia), it features a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel autofocus camera on the rear of the device, and a 1.9 megapixel shooter on the front. The brushed aluminum chassis comes in at a super slim 8.7mm and users will have the choice of either a 16GB or 32GB storage version, but both models will have a microSD slot if more is required.
At the event Samsung also revealed its Windows RT tablet, the ATIV Tab, which like the ATIV S, features a dual-core 1.5GHz processor. It also packs a 10.1-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.9MP front camera, 5MP back camera, as well as ports for USB and micro-HDMI. It also measures in at just 8.9mm thick. Just like Samsung's Galaxy series is for Android devices, the ATIV line will be exclusively for Windows products.
The ATIV S is also avaliable in the Netherlands through PDAshop which has the price listed as 549 euros.
