Back in 2017, Instagram Stories introduced the capability to cross-post to Facebook Stories, although it was not possible to do the opposite at that time. That might change in the future as Facebook is said to have started experimenting with cross-posting Stories to Instagram Stories (via TechCrunch).
The test was spotted by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong, who maintains a good reputation of discovering unreleased features for several mobile apps in recent times. Alexandru Voica, Facebook's EMEA communications manager, also confirmed the test as part of the company's effort to improve the way Stories work across apps, Wong revealed.

Just like the usual, cross-sharing your Facebook Stories to Messenger Stories and vice versa is there when sharing this type of content, along with other privacy options including public, friends, and custom to set with whom you would like to share your content. In addition, there's a new toggle option for cross-posting your Stories to Instagram Stories. It also appears that this option applies to future posts as well.
While Facebook has already confirmed this testing, there's no official word on when the social networking giant will introduce this new capability to the general public. Until then, you'll have to settle with cross-sharing Instagram Stories to Facebook Stories only for the meantime.
