As if putting crazy colors on status updates wasn't enough, Facebook seems to want to go even further, by testing comments with colored backgrounds as well.
The new feature was initially discovered by The Next Web. As pictured above, users can make their comments a little bit more colorful (and psychedelic) by inserting gradient or solid colors behind the text.
Only a small number of users have reportedly been able to use the new feature as of yet, though it does appear to be currently limited to those on mobile.
Facebook unveiled its colored status updates feature back in December of last year, which was formerly an Android exclusive. However, it also made its way onto iOS and eventually the desktop, enabling anyone around the world to see and create eye-catching content on the platform.
We have reached out to Facebook for comment and will update the story once we hear more.
It is still not known if the company will push the feature towards a larger number of users and release it to the general public in the future. Either way, for now, we can continue making comments on Facebook statuses without any splash of color and send it as it is, plain and simple.
Update: “We’re always exploring new ways for people to connect and have conversations, so we are testing new features on comments,” a Facebook spokesperson told Neowin.
