Fallout 76, Bethesda Game Studio's multiplayer venture set in one of its most iconic universes, is turning five in a few weeks, and the studio is already beginning its celebrations. A free event is already underway, and there are goodies to claim, costumed mobs to hunt, candy bowls to share, and more.
The new free event is lasting for seven days. Until October 30, Fallout 76 is completely free-to-play across Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 platforms, offering access to the post-apocalyptic Appalachia setting, its questlines, multiplayer events, and a myriad of other content.
To help make continuing their adventures after the free week a cheaper affair, Xbox and Bethesda have put Fallout 76 on 80% off discount across Steam, Microsoft Store, and PlayStation stores. This pulls down the usually $39.99 priced game to $7.99.
🎂 Happy Fallout Day!

We're kicking off #Fallout76's 5th Anniversary celebrations starting today and will continue through November! pic.twitter.com/FpgU4uZL92
Starting November 7, players will also be presented with the Birthday Suit to claim, and completing special daily challenges while wearing it will grant them anniversary rewards.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Prime Gaming members also have a bonus waiting in their perk sections. This Birthday Bundle hosts a pack of in-game cosmetic items for decorating bases.
Considering this is Halloween season as well, Bethesda has turned on special costumed mobs across Appalachia that drop special treats and legendary items when defeated. The in-game premium shop is also offering a free Spooky Candy Bowl to claim for free, which can be used in bases to hand out candy for trick-or-treating players.
Looking towards the future of this live service entry, Fallout 76's next major content update is Atlantic City. Launching on December 5, this expedition will carry new locations, questlines, enemies, factions, and more for free. Public Test Server players on PC can already try out the new content too.
The mainline Fallout series seems to be on ice currently as Bethesda Game Studios focuses its efforts on Starfield post-launch support, its expansion, as well as the next entry in The Elder Scrolls universe. However, the post-apocalyptic universe is coming to TV soon. Amazon Prime Video's Fallout show is debuting this April with an original story set in Los Angeles.
