During the Ubisoft Forward presentation today, Far Cry 6 was officially announced by the publisher with a brand new cinematic trailer, catch it above. Although some leaks ruined the surprise, we get to see Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito playing the role of the newest villain, president Antón Castillo.
The story this time takes players to the fictional Caribbean island of Yara to take the role of local freedom fighter Dani Rojas, which can be either male or female depending on the player's choice. Unlike the last two entries, the Far Cry 6 protagonist will be voiced this time, and will also appear in cutscenes instead of being a fully first-person experience.
In addition to the usual open-ended vistas seen in Far Cry games, Ubisoft has also stuffed the series' first urban space into Far Cry 6, offering the sprawling capital city Esperanza to explore. There will be allies, both human and animal, to recruit around the island for fighting back against Castillo's regime, and Chorizo the wiener dog will be one of these.
Pre-ordering the title will give players the Libertad Pack, which comes with a special Outfit for Chorizo and a special weapon named "Discos Locos."
Far Cry 6 will be hitting PC, Uplay+, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on February 18, 2021. Also, those who purchase the game on current-gen consoles will be receiving a free upgrade to their respective next-generation version.
