Today, Geoff Keighley is hosting this year's edition of The Game Awards, and with it comes a slew of game announcements. Nintendo isn't missing out on the fun and popped in with a reveal of the latest DLC character to join the fighter roster in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
After the addition of a multitude of characters from Microsoft's Minecraft, including Steve, Alex, and the Enderman, it's now time for Sephiroth from the Final Fantasy franchise. Specifically, Sephiroth is the main antagonist in Final Fantasy VII and the recently-released remake of the title. This isn't the first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter to hail from that title, as the main character, Cloud, was already playable.

The trailer shows off some of Sephiroth's moves, making use of his long sword and magic attacks and shields. Some of the moves include using the sword to slash platforms in half or as a way to gain height by stabbing a wall with it.
The trailer didn't reveal a solid release date or additional details about what new stage or music will be added alongside the new character. However, the release will happen before the year is out.
