"A big day in Mozilla history" is what one Mozilla developer described it as, and he wasn't far wrong. Today sees the release of Mozilla Firefox 0.8, the latest release from the Mozilla group. Previously known as Firebird, the browser's 0.8 release was delayed due to copyright issues, but the group has now settled upon the Firefox name. It comes with many new features, such as :
* Easier Downloading
* Installer
* Pinstripe Theme
* Extension UI
* Better Bookmarks
* DOM Inspector
But... Thats not all! The group's product Thunderbird 0.5, their popular mail client has also been released! New features in this release include multiple identities per mail account, making it easy to have several email addresses which end up going into the same account; Secure Password Authentication using a new cross-platform NTLM authentication mechanism for POP3 and SMTP; A new Palm Sync Address book conduit is now available for 0.5; A new, improved version of the offline extension is now available for 0.5; Improved Spell Checker including a new US dictionary; Ability to paste names or addresses from a spreadsheet directly into the addressing widget of a new compose window. Thus, a very large amount of fixes.
As many neowin readers will know, we follow Mozilla development very closely, and i can honestly say that this is one of their best releases. IE users have no excuse but to give it ago.
