A new family of digital magazines are set to be published online in the upcoming weeks, First Look Media.
Funded with a heavy $250 million investment, Pierre Omidyar (founder of Ebay and democracy activist) adds fuel to the fire, by orientating the initial online editorials around top secret NSA documents. The staff lineup is impressive, featuring journalists that have worked directly with whistleblower Ed Snowden and other influential figures.
Journalist’s right’s when reporting on Government files have been all the hype recently, debates bouncing around the streets of Twitter and other online forums. Many have received threats and malicious messages against their professional and personal wellbeing , if they continued to delve deeper into secret NSA records.
First Look Media however promises to stand up for the media reporters, claiming they will “hold the rights of journalists to report on the sensitive and often controversial information that they learn from sources.”
The media group has revealed that they have already uncovered some “alarming and disturbing revelations” within the NSA documents. This controversial news can be put to a host of veteran journalists, to the likes of Peter Maas, Marcy Wheeler and Ryan Gallagher among others, featuring impressive track records in their field.
A promotional and informative video has been released by the company, offering a brief explanation as to exactly who they are, and what they aim to achieve. Keep an eye on First Look Media, they are here for the long haul.
