Popular battle royale game Fortnite has finally arrived on all compatible Android devices by means of an open beta which starts today. Two months ago, the beta test version was launched for Galaxy devices only.
Epic Games announced the commencement of the open beta on Twitter:
Previously, players had to sign up for an invitation to experience the video game on Android devices. With the open beta, you can now visit Epic Games' portal and download the game. The developer recommends these software and hardware specifications to be able to play Fortnite on Android:
- OS: Recommended Android 8.0 or higher, 64 bit
- RAM: Recommended 4GB or higher
- GPU: Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher
Initially announced for the platform in May, Fortnite for Android gained several enhancements over time including the addition of voice chat, improved game performance, enhanced controls, and reduced data usage.
Last summer, more Android devices started getting beta invitations for the game. Today's announcement marks the first time, though, that the beta has been formally opened for everyone. While the game is not downloadable from the Google Play Store, it still managed to hit 15 million downloads last month.
