The Playground Games developed and Microsoft platform exclusive racer Forza Horizon 3 launched back in 2016 to critical acclaim, even earning an 'Excellent' verdict from Neowin. With the launch of Microsoft's new Xbox One X console, it was only a matter of time before the exclusive title would be receiving its 4K enhancements, and today is that day.
According to a blog post by the Forza community manager Brian Ekberg, the Xbox One X enhancements will arrive as a free download for everyone who owns the console, bringing native 4K resolution support, reduced loading times, and improvements to the game's visuals.
Although the blog post did not go into much detail, some enhanced features include "improved car reflections and shadow resolutions, improved texture detail for road and terrain surfaces," as well as "increased LOD and draw distances." As there was no mention of improved frame rates, it may be safe to assume that the game will be running at 30fps.
The enhancements aren't limited to the base game, with the game's two expansions, Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels, also benefiting from them.
All in all, Forza Horizon 3 is already one of the best looking racers on the market, and these enhancements only serve to increase the visual fidelity to even higher levels. The update should have already rolled out to Xbox One X consoles.
