Fossil today announced the latest entry into its smartwatch lineup, the Hybrid HR. As you can probably tell by the name, it's a hybrid smartwatch, meaning that it has mechanical hands with some smartwatch functionality. This one has a full 27mm display under those mechanical hands.
Like with most hybrid smartwatches, the idea is to give you the best of both worlds. You can still see updates and notifications as they arrive, but it looks like a more traditional watch. With the Hybrid HR, you can see who's calling you, read texts, track your workouts, get weather updates, and more.
"We know our customers desire both form and function. They have loved how our hybrid smartwatches look like a watch, but act like a smartwatch, but have requested additional ways to stay connected," says Steve Evans, EVP Fossil. "We are so excited to bring to market this version of hybrid that adds features like heart rate tracking and an always-on read-out display to make notifications easier to see—two big unlocks for our customers. They want to stay connected while enhancing their personal style and these new hybrid smartwatches do both. We pride ourselves on being innovators in the fashion watch space, and we believe that the hybrid smartwatch is the future of fashion watches."
Another big feature of the Hybrid HR is battery life, of which Fossil is promising two weeks or more. Moreover, that's with all features activated, as opposed to other smartwatches that require you to turn features off to get the most out of the battery.
The Hybrid HR comes in two flavors, both of which have 27mm displays and 42mm cases. The Charter HR fits 18mm straps and the Collider HR fits 22mm straps, while they're both made out of stainless steel and are 11mm thin.
The Fossil Hybrid HR is available today, starting at $195. You can get it from Fossil.com and select Fossil stores. It will also be coming to India beginning on November 18.
