Fashion brand Fossil announced today it intends to launch more than 300 smartwatch styles across 14 different brands in 2017. The company is unveiling its new designs at its European headquarters in Basel, Switzerland during Baselworld - a prominent watch and jewelry show.
Fossil plans to release both hybrid smartwatches, which look like traditional watches but feature discreet notifications and activity tracking, and also touchscreen smartwatches, which will be powered by Android Wear 2.0 and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor
Greg McKelvey, Fossil's chief strategy and digital officer stated:
"Our customers are no longer wearing a watch simply to tell time, they are wearing it to stay connected to the people and activities they care about most while remaining fashionably on-point."
McKelvey also added:
"We're thrilled to offer them so many ways to maintain those connections, and to do it with beauty and uncompromised style."
Since the launch of its first Android Wear smartwatch in 2015, the company has released over 150 touchscreen watches, hybrid watches and activity trackers for brands such as Chaps, Diesel and Misfit. If there is one thing that is for certain, 2017 will have offer quite a variety of smartwatches for those that are looking.
