FOX Sports GO users will be able to stream next week's Super Bowl 51 for free, but the sporting event will also be broadcast on the TV network's VR app with exciting content to keep viewers entertained during breaks.
VR content provider LiveLike will be curating content nearly in real-time during the live broadcast of the Super Bowl. Users of the FOX Sports VR app will be able to see the top four plays from each quarter and a total of 20 highlights from the game along with some of the pre-game and post-game coverage.
According to CNN, there will also be pre-produced content available during the broadcast. LiveLike and FOX Sports have previously worked together for Major League Soccer broadcasts, but the Super Bowl is expected to be the biggest event to have a VR audience.
Sports fans can use their VR headsets to consume the content or view it in 360 degrees on their smartphones. The FOX Sports VR app is available on the Google Play Store, Apple iTunes Store and the Oculus Store for free, but a cable subscription is required to view the broadcast.
