After Sony and Asus decided to offer LED backlit notebooks, Fujitsu has shown it isn't about to be left behind and introduced the LifeBook P7230 notebook with a 10.6" LED backlit display. LED technology allows for slimmer display panels, increased battery life and richer colors. Weighing at 2.96 pounds with the integrated optical drive, the LifeBook P7230 is only 1.17" thick - 15% thinner than its predecessor. The new LifeBook, available already from the Fujitsu Direct Store, is powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo U1400 Ultra Low Voltage processor and a minimum of 1GB of DDR2 667MHz memory. Battery life is rated at 6 hours with a 6-cell battery and 9.75 hours with the additional modular bay battery which ups the notebook's weight to 3.08 pounds.
In terms of possible configurations, the following 3 were specified, each successive adding to the previous setup:
- $1,699: Windows Vista Basic, 40GB hard drive, Atheros Super AG 802.11a/b/g wireless adapter, DVD/CD-RW combo drive and a fingerprint reader
- $1,899: Windows Vista Business, 60GB hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner and a Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 wireless adapter
- $2,179: 80GB hard drive, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, port replicator and built-in webcam
