The announcement of an authentically stylized Dragon Ball Z game at E3 last month was a welcome surprise for fans of the series. Dragon Ball FighterZ's original announcement included plenty of familiar characters from the anime series, including Goku, Frieza, kid Gohan and more.
At the Evo 2017 event, the developer, Arc System Works announced a brand new addition to the character roster that has only been teased in the past. As seen in the trailer above, the new character is Trunks, this version being the one that arrived from an alternate future and effortlessly dealt with the newly put together Frieza in the anime.
It's excellent to see that the game has even included future Trunk's signature move 'Burning Attack' in perfect fashion (seen at the 19-second mark in the trailer).
However, it's unclear if the game will incorporate kid Trunks from the main timeline as a character as well, and maybe even introduce Goten to set up a fused Gotenks appearance at some point.
In addition to the new character reveal, the developer also announced that the game's closed beta sign ups would begin on July 26 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The closed beta will include nine playable characters for players to try out, and future Trunks will be one of them.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is slated to arrive in early 2018 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
