It's been a couple of months since we last reported on the most downloaded paid Windows 8 apps in the Windows Store. At the beginning of April, the list was dominated by games, led by Fruit Ninja. Today, the Windows 8 paid app sales list still show games in eight of the top 10 positions.
The number one paid Windows 8 app at the moment is Temple Run: Brave, one of the many "endless run" games made by developer Imangi. This game was designed to help promote the 2012 Disney/Pixar movie Brave but was released for Windows 8 recently for $4.99.
Rovio's Angry Birds Star Wars is number two on the paid apps sales list at the moment, followed by Four Elements II Special Edition in third place. In fourth place is Game Dev Tycoon, which was first released in December to little fanfare but got a big boost in sales a few weeks ago. The rise was due to its developers at Greenheart Games getting a ton of publicity for releasing a "cracked" version of the game in a unique take on fighting software piracy.
The full top 10 list of paid Windows 8 apps is as follows:
1. Temple Run: Brave ($4.99)
2. Angry Birds Star Wars ($4.99)
3. 4 Elements II Special Edition ($2.99)
4. Game Dev Tycoon ($7.99)
5. Fruit Ninja ($1.99)
6. Plex ($2.99)
7. Bejeweled Live ($4.99)
