The single biggest question about Duke Nukem Forever's upcoming release is, "Will it be worth the 15 year wait?". But perhaps the second biggest question about the long awaited first person shooter for some people will be, "Will my retailer still honor the Duke Nukem Forever pre-order that I paid for 10 years ago or more?" Well for one retailer the answer is actually, "Yes."
According to a story on Gamepro's web site, it has asked the game-themed retailer GameStop if it will honor any pre-orders that were made so long ago for the game. GameStop's official response is, "Provided the customer has a receipt, we will honor even those pre-orders taken long ago. At this time, we expect that all pre-order customers will receive Duke's Big Package at time of purchase, regardless of when the reservation was made."
Of course GameStop started out as Babbage's and merged with a number of other game themed retailers over the years including Software Etc, FuncoLand and Electronics Boutique. So if you bought your pre-order from those previous companies you might want to make sure GameStop will still honor them. If you do have a pre-order you will also gain first access to the game's demo which should be released this Friday, June 3.
Duke Nukem Forever, begun by 3D Realms and finished by three developers lead by Gearbox Software, recently went gold. The game is finally due to be released on June 10 in much of the world and on June 14 here in North America.
