At the same time that heavy metal band Twisted Sister is turning 30, Turner's GameTap subscription videogame service is celebrating its first year. The gaming service is branching out beyond just delivering classic and original videogames to its subscribers, and tapping into the Hollywood realm. GameTap will be the first place in the world where Twisted Sister's new CD, "A Twisted Christmas," can be heard. From October 12 through 17th the entire CD will be streamed on the site.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to integrating the band into its programming. Dee Snyder and Jay Jay from Twisted Sister will be featured in a variety of shows, including "Space Ghost Coast to Coast," "GameTap Tracks, "GameTap 10," "Computer Lab," and "Quick Hit."
"One of the founding principles of GameTap is that playing games is part of a lifestyle that includes a lot of other interests," said Ricardo Sanchez, vice president of content, GameTap. "The bottom line is that we can help build buzz and excitement with a broad, media-hungry audience. As we continue to evolve our lineup of shows, and original games for that matter, music and entertainment companies are going to have new ways to get their products out there that exist only because of our unique combination of games on-demand and video on-demand served up in an all-you-can-eat subscription model."
