There were a few new game announcements today as Comic-Con inches closer. Let's get to it:
- Futuremark Game Studios (Shattered Horizon) has announced Unstoppable Gorg, an upcoming tower defense game for the PC, Xbox 360 and iPad that is influenced by sci-fi movies of the 1950s.
- Size Five Games has announced The Swindle, a platformer for the PC and Xbox 360 game that has a steampunk theme with an emphasis on physics.
- 2K Games has announced that the upcoming first person shooter The Darkness 2 will be delayed from this fall to a February 2012 release date.
- Turtle Beach has announced a series of high end Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 branded headsets that will be released this October.
- The Brink statistic web site now has the player stats for PC users of the recent first person shooter.
- As promised, tickets for the September 2-3 Call of Duty XP fan event in Los Angeles are now on sale for $150 each.
- The recent first person shooter Homefront will get a new DLC map pack soon, The Rock, that's set in San Francicso and, yes, features Alcatraz as one of the maps.
- Batman Arkham City is getting a $99 Collector's edition with lots of extras including a fancy custom Batman statue.
- A voice actor who has worked with Valve has said he expects the action-RTS game DOTA 2 to be released sometime this fall.
- Activision has announced the Hollywood voice actors for X-Men Destiny and Spider-Man Edge of Time, the latter of which will have Val Kilmer as Walker Sloan.
- IDW Publishing will release a four issue comic book based on Capcom's Dead Rising zombie action series.
- THQ will release a downloadable Xbox 360-PS3 game based on the Voltron animated series this fall
