Wednesday gave us the PC release of a promising shooter, the release date for a horror themed action game and, well, lots more.
- 2K Games announced that The Darkness II, the sequel to the 2006 released horror shooter, will be released on October 4 in the US for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms.
- The PC version of the downloadable sci-fi shooter Section 8 Prejudice is now available to purchase via several sites for $14.99. The PC version has a few extras not included in the Xbox 360 port.
- Nexon America reported today that revenues for the free-to-play game publisher went up 59 percent in the first quarter of 2011.
- The DRM-free PC game download site GoG.com will be shut down for a few hours on Thursday morning in order to put in new features to the web site.
- Square Enix will distribute the highly anticipated zombie action game Dead Island, from developer Techland, here in the US.
- Dwarfs!? (yes, that's how the title is spelled), a fantasy arcade action game from Tripwire Interactive, is now available to download via Steam along with a free demo.
- Konami plans to hold a big game preview with live events in cities around the world on June 2, a few days before E3 2011 begins.
- Owners of Civilization V can now download and purchase two DLC packs; the Denmark Civilization and Scenario Pack and the Explorer's Map Pack with 10 new maps.
- Xbox 360 owners of Call of Duty Black Ops can now purchase and download the Escalation map pack, with four new maps plus the celebrity filled Call of the Dead zombie map, for 1200 Microsoft points.
