This past week has been a busy one for game related news and this coming week will see lots of news from the annual Tokyo Game Show. Here are just some of the highlights from the past week:
- The just released PS3 shooter Resistance 3 will get its first DLC pack October 4. It will add a new multiplayer mode, Invasion, for $3.99.
- Valve has launched its Steam Trading feature out of its beta stage, allowing players of Team Fortress 2, Portal 2 and the third party game Spiral Knights to trade virtual items and Steam Gifts with each other.
- Blizzard said that it is very close to launching the closed beta for the long awaited Diablo III.
- The turn based strategy game A Game of Thrones: Genesis, based on the best selling George R.R. Martin fantasy novels, will be released by Cyanide Studio for the PC on September 29.
- Disney Interactive confirmed it has laid off 20 team members from its Avalanche Software development team earlier in September.
- EA has confirmed that it has already received 1.25 million pre-orders for Battlefield 3.
- Dead Island's first DLC release, Bloodbath Arena, will be released sometime in late September. It features players going up against endless waves of zombies in four arenas along with the new brain wave bomb weapon.
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution's first DLC pack, The Missing Link, is due for release sometime in October. It will tell the tale of what happened to the game's lead character Adam Jensen during his three day disappearance.
- Ubisoft has now removed the DRM set up from the PC version of its downloadable "god game" From Dust.
- Due to a trademark dispute, the recent Xbox Live Arcade game Trenched from developer Double Fine will soon get a title change to Iron Brigade.
- Leaked info on the upcoming reboot of EA's Syndicate game franchise has made it to the Internet.
- id Software has released the source codes for the iOS games Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum and Doom Classic.
