WASHINGTON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. MSFT.O founder and chairman Bill Gates sold 2 million shares worth about $96.2 million this week, according to regulatory filings.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing dated Wednesday but made public on Friday, Gates sold $47.5 million worth of 1 million shares at between $46.87 and $48.15 each.
Gates also sold another one million shares for between $48.28 and $49.05 each, for a total of $48.7 million, according to a previous filing dated on Monday and released on Wednesday.
Representatives for Gates were not immediately available for comment.
Microsoft shares closed down 84 cents, or almost 2 percent, on Friday to $46.58. The Redmond, Washington-based company's stock has traded as high as $65 and as low as $41.41 over the past 52 weeks.
