As the upcoming Splash Damage and The Coalition-developed strategy game Gears Tactics nears its release, the developers have decided to put forth a launch trailer that's filled with a lot of information about the setting and features, as well as gameplay from the title. See the trailer in full above.
Gears Tactics offers players a top-down, turn-based tactical gameplay experience instead of the usual third-person action formula seen in Gears of War games. The gameplay should be very familiar to anyone who's played the XCOM or any similar turn-based tactical games.
Players still have a squad with them and the title has a heavy emphasis on cover, but they will be making decisions for the entire squad each turn as they chew through hordes of Locust enemies. The Locusts are the main enemy again in the title because it is a prequel to the franchise.
See the detailed PC system requirements on the image below:
Gears Tactics is heading to PC on April 28. Microsoft Store and Steam users have the opportunity to pre-order it for $59.99, while Xbox Game Pass for PC subscribers will be receiving it on day one as part of their growing library. An Xbox One version is also in development, but a release date hasn't been announced yet.
Pre-loading is now available on the aforementioned platforms as well, weighing in at 28.9GB for the download. This should increase in size once the game releases, both due to decompressing and perhaps a day-one update.
