Two of the biggest names in the world of fantasy - the creator of Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin, and the mind behind the Dark Souls games, Hidetaka Miyazaki - are set to work together. The two are collaborating on a new game by FromSoftware, titled Elden Ring.
A trailer for the game, shown off at the Xbox E3 Briefing, shows the studio returning to the visual style of the Souls series which it has become synonymous with. It is also set to be the largest game FromSoftware has ever produced, Miyazaki revealed in an interview. In usual FromSoftware fashion, the trailer is quite vague, showcasing a dark fantasy world and contains some cryptic references to the Elden Ring, and how it was shattered.
What will set the game apart from the previous game by the studio will be its focus on RPG elements and an open world, something the previous games didn't have. The game will also feature character customization like the Souls games and, as expected, the game will be quite challenging, with the studio's signature boss battles being a centerpiece of the gameplay.
Information about the game is currently a little spare, with no release date, but we do know that it will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
