Ghost Recon Future Soldier is set to be released later this month but before that happens, publisher Ubisoft has a special prequel to the game's story that will be presented as a live action short film. The short, titled Ghost Recon Alpha, will makes its US debut on Thursday, May 3rd at 6:30 pm ET as part of G4's X-Play television show. The Alpha short film will have the same four Ghost Recon characters that will be featured in Future Soldier and the game's location will also be made into a multiplayer map in the game. The film was directed by Hervé de Crécy and François Alaux. who won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2010 for their impressive effort Logorama, featuring a city populated by corporate logos and characters.
The script for Alpha was co-written by Tim Sexton, who received an Academy Award nomination for Children of Men, along with Gregory Pruss. The cinematography is handled by Trent Opaloch who did those duties on District 9.
Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Ghost Recon Future Soldier will be released in the US on May 22nd. The PC version comes out on June 12th.
