Back in July, Ubisoft revealed the new player vs. player mode, Ghost War, that would be arriving for Ghost Recon Wildlands as a free update, with an open beta planned for the summer. Now, two months later, Ubisoft has announced that the open beta will commence next week as a stand-alone download, giving everyone who owns the game as well as those who don't a chance to test it out.
Ghost War will be a four vs. four death match mode without respawns, giving focus to tactical play. The full mode is set to include eight maps and 12 new specialized classes belonging to the Assault, Marksman, and Support categories. Each class will come with their own weapons, customization options, as well as perks to choose from, such as increasing the class's sprinting speed or automatically marking enemies that mark them.
However, during the open beta, players will only have access to five maps and six of the classes. The new suppression mechanics and sound markers for detecting where weapons were discharged quickly will also make an appearance in the beta. Ubisoft will be showcasing the new mode as well as additional information on its official Twitch channel on September 19 at 9am PT.
The Ghost War stand-alone open beta will be available from September 21-25. The beta will also be ready for preload starting September 19, to not waste anyone's time downloading the files while the event is ongoing.
