It is the weekly freebie drop time again on the Epic Games Store, and it's another double giveaway. Replacing Dead by Daylight and while True: learn() comes in a couple of big games; Godfall Challenger Edition and Prison Architect, and they are free to anyone with an Epic Games account.
Published by Gearbox, developed by Counterplay Games and released just over a year ago, Godfall is an action RPG described as a 'looter-slasher'. It has you mastering weapon classes, fighting through various high-fantasy realms, and acquiring new skills to cut through enemies on the way to kill a god. Up to three players can join together for cooperative play as well.
As this is the Challenger Edition, it offers high-level gear from the start for a faster progression and access to higher tier enemies. The Epic Games Store describes the setting as follows:
Aperion is on the precipice of ruin. You are the last of the Valorian knights, god-like warriors able to equip Valorplates, legendary armor sets that transform wielders into unstoppable masters of melee combat. Tear through foes as you climb through the elemental realms and challenge the mad god, Macros who awaits you at the top.
Meanwhile, from Paradox's coffers arrives Prison Architect. Originally developed by Introversion Software, the title is a 2D top-down sim involving the construction and management of a profitable private prison. You will be building facilities for prisoners and workers, connecting utilities, and managing everything involving the complex. New prisoners arrive constantly that require various levels of security, from minimum to Supermax.
Here's the description from the store:
Only the world’s most ruthless Warden can contain the world’s most ruthless inmates. Design and develop your personalized penitentiary in Prison Architect.
Godfall is available on Windows, while Prison Architect can be played both on Windows and macOS. Here are the minimum requirements:

The giveaways of Godfall Challenger Edition and Prison Architect will remain available to claim on the Epic Games Store until December 16. The identity of the next freebie is being kept under wraps for now. Rumors say Epic will be kicking off another giveaway bonanza next week with daily freebies available. We will have to wait and see if this is how the store plans to celebrate the end of 2021.
