If you've ever struggled to manage both your email and several other applications at once, all while running a successful business or just trying to get through your work day, you're in luck, because Google has heard your internalized cries for help.
In a blog post today, Google announced its partnership with several companies bringing useful add-ons to Gmail, which will introduce new ways to manage your workflow during the course of the day. Among these are Asana, a team management application that allows you to track and assign tasks to messages sent between members, ProsperWorks, an add-on that gives you access to relevant customer data on the fly, and Intuit Quickbooks Invoicing, allowing you to easily issue an invoice right from your email application. According to the company, DocuSign will arrive shortly, giving you the ability to easily sign emails and documents.
At present Gmail will support 10 add-ons - you can add these by heading to the G Suite Marketplace today - and is available for both G Suite and Gmail users. As for developers, these apps will run natively on both Gmail, and Android with one code base, with more information being outlined here.
Google isn't the first to introduce add-ons in its email solution. Microsoft rolled out the ability for companies like Uber and others to bring functionality to Outlook.com and its various Outlook apps, that assists the user in completing several tasks.
