Google has published a post explaining exactly what happens to your games when Stadia Pro subscriptions expire. With the first three months of free Stadia Pro subscriptions coming to an end, the firm decided to explain what would happen for those who are not looking to renew their subscription.
Perhaps the most pressing question users will have is what will happen to their access to the free games they got as Pro subscribers. According to Google, while you’re a free user, you’ll lose access to these games and only retain access to those that you have purchased. If you do decide to become a Pro subscriber again in the future you will regain access to those previously claimed games as well as the progress you’ve made in them.
If you’ve decided that Pro isn’t for you but you liked some of the games, you can buy the game from the Stadia store and you’ll still retain all your saved game data from when you were a Pro subscriber.
Essentially, Google is saying that if you ever want to take a break from Pro, you can do so safely without losing your stuff when you resubscribe in the future.
When you do revert to a free account, it should be noted that aside from losing access to the free Pro games, you’ll also lose the ability to play games in 4K with HDR and 5.1 surround sound. On the free Stadia Base account, you can play up to 1080p at 60 fps with Stereo sound. With regards to Base accounts, Google said you’ll be able to buy Stadia with Stadia Base, instead of Pro, in the coming months.
