At the annual Google for India event, Google made announcements for developing markets, and also announced the global availability of its Files Go application that allows users to manage storage space, backup files or share content with other Android users.
Files Go beta was released in a few markets last month with the ability to clean duplicate photos, application cache and unused apps. The app has now picked up few more features and improved upon the existing ones. Google intends the application to help users with entry-level smartphones having 4 GB or 8 GB of internal storage to make space from time to time.
The app is capable of finding duplicate images, low-resolution memes, large videos, unused applications and cache accumulated from daily usage of apps. In addition to this, users can backup files to Google Drive or other cloud storage providers.
Perhaps one of the most important feature of Files Go for developing markets, is the ability to share files without a cellular data connection, using a Wi-Fi hotspot. Although, there are many such apps on the Play Store, an ad-free official solution is always appreciated.
Users can get the Files Go app from the Play Store by visiting its listing here. Devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop and upwards are supported.
