The Google Assistant-powered Home and Home Mini smart speakers from Google could soon be headed to India, more than six months since their launch in the US and Europe.
According to a report from Gadgets360, Redington, one of the biggest suppliers in the country for tech products has begun briefing retail outlets about the Home and Home Mini devices prior to their imminent launch. The report mentions that the devices could be unveiled in April.
It has been over a year since the launch of the original Google Home and six months since the launch of the Home Mini, but the devices were not launched in India until now. Despite the delay, Google can still make a mark against the Amazon Echo series of speakers in India, as the smart speaker market in the country is still in its early days. Google has taken special efforts to bring its Assistant to more Indian users in the last few months, and the Home speakers should boost this effort further.
There doesn't seem to be any pricing or availability information about the devices as of yet, but it could be closer to the $129 and $49 prices in the US with the addition of local taxes.
