The Google Daydream View VR headset first made its debut in 2016 and was updated the following year. The retail price for the headset usually sits at $99, but now for a limited time, it has been discounted to $49 from the Google Store and other retailers.
When compared to the original, the current headset offers notable improvements like its new lenses for improved field of view and also a built-in heat sink to provide better cooling for attached phones. Although the unit might be heavily discounted, it doesn't function on its own, and it still requires a compatible handset.
The current batch of phones that support Google's Daydream VR unit include:
- Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
- Google Pixel and Pixel XL
- Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+
- Samsung Galaxy Note8
- Moto Z2 Force
- Moto Z Force
- Moto Z
- Asus ZenFone AR
- LG V30
- ZTE Axon 7
- Huawei Mate 9 Pro and Porsche Design Mate 9
Samsung's latest Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are slated to offer compatibility soon. If interested, you can purchase the headset through the Google Store, Verizon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo Video.
