There's been a bit of anticipation in the lead up to the release of Google's rumored midrange handsets, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. While the alleged names and specifications of these smartphones only came to light in the last couple of months it may only be a few more days until that information is confirmed at a Pixel announced slated for May 7 at Google I/O.
While Google may have been looking forward to a relatively unspoiled launch of its latest smartphones, it seems that may have just been spoiled. Having tipped off Android Police, an eagle-eyed shopper has noticed a premature outing of the Pixel 3a XL at a Best Buy located in Springfield, Ohio and snapped a few photos of some boxed retail units sitting in a glass display cabinet. A closer look at the box shown on the right in the above image confirms the existence "Just Black" variant of the Pixel 3a XL with a 6-inch display and 64GB of onboard storage. While the image on the left seems to omit the handset color, the tail end of the word "violet" can be seen.
For most, this sighting may be more than enough to confirm the existence of the Pixel 3a range ahead of the formal announcement but, of course, anything could still happen between now and this Tuesday.
