GoPro has launched a high-quality live streaming service for the GoPro Plus subscribers, which enables them to live stream from their cameras to their account at the GoPro website.
The new service is available for HERO8 Black, HERO7 Black, and MAX cameras. The stream will not be available publicly. Instead, a dedicated private link to the live stream is created, which can then be shared with friends and family. A step-by-step guide on how to stream is also available.
For the uninitiated, GoPro Plus is a subscription-based service that offers full quality unlimited storage in the cloud, no-questions-asked camera replacement when it's damaged, up to 50 percent discount on camera accessories and mounts, and premium customer support.
Additionally, a new firmware for the HERO8 Black has been released, which enables the camera to be used as a webcam on macOS (Webcam for Windows is in beta stage). This comes after Canon, Fujifilm, and Sony enabled their cameras to be used as webcams owing to the coronavirus pandemic and working from home being the new normal. The firmware update also adds HyperSmooth 2.0 High and Boost capabilities in more recording settings.
