Obsidian Entertainment's take on the survival genre, Grounded, landed last month on Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access, putting players into the shoes of four children that have been shrunk down to ant-size. Today, the massively popular game's first content update came through, and it brings in the backyard's largest creature yet, a bird.
The bird will offer players feathers as a new material, which will unlock beds as a new resting spot and a marksman's cap that will enhance bow attacks as new craftable items. However, exactly how will the bird behave and what sort of threat will it pose to the children hasn't been detailed just yet.
Player perks have also come in as a new feature, letting players "cut grass faster, increase health, improve defenses, and more" through mutations, with additional mutations incoming in future updates. The flooded biome will now house a new ambient insect too, the water flea. Meanwhile, for players looking to spruce up their bases a bit more, sprig and acorn picket fences, as well as grass and clover tables have arrived as new crafted items.
The full patch notes for Grounded update 0.2.0 can be seen here, which goes into detail on all of the included balance changes and bug fixes. The update is now rolling out to players on Steam, Microsoft Store, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass.
