The 2006 GUI Championships are underway. The inter-website contest to see who can create the best skins, icons, and wallpaper has moved into the user-voting phase.
This week, the contest announced the non-cash prizes which includes an Alienware M5750 Multimedia Entertainment Laptop, a bunch of Xbox 360s, and a GeForce 7900GT and thousands of dollars in cash.
Now users of Neowin.net can help decide which icons make it into the finalists by going to www.guichamps.com, creating an account (if you have a WinCustomize.com account it will work on guichamps.com as well) and then clicking on the vote option on the left. This week the most usable icon packages are being voted on by users.
The icons that get the most votes make it to the finals where Neowin's own Neobond will be one of the final judges.
Also, if you're a skinner, it's not too late to create a skin and submit it, voting on GUI skins (that use WindowBlinds) doesn't start for another couple weeks.
