Microsoft has already shipped over 500,000 units of the Lumia 535 from China to India within just a month of launch in the country.
The Lumia 535, which is Microsoft's first Windows Phone since ditching the Nokia brand, was launched at a very aggressive price point to compete with low-end Android smartphones. But the price doesn't seem to be the only aggressive thing about the device, as Microsoft is shipping large volumes of the budget friendly smartphone already.
According to Indian import tracking website, Zauba, Microsoft has imported 502,468 Lumia 535s into India since its launch in December. These devices are reported to be worth nearly $30,303,313. All of these were also manufactured in China as it is the country of origin for all the shipped 535s.
While the import numbers are not necessarily an indicator of the overall success of the device, it does reveal Microsoft's intentions to push them to as many consumers as possible. We will know more about the actual sales numbers when Microsoft announces its earnings within a week's time on January 26th.
