343 Industries kicked off Halo 3: ODST public flighting earlier this month, using the Halo Insider program to test the title's upcoming PC version, the new Firefight mode, and Halo 3 changes. Xbox One players were also invited this time. Right as the session was coming to an end, the studio today announced that the flight has been extended, adding another week to the timer.
This Insider session saw a 100,000 player injection just last Friday, with Steam users being targeted. Shortly after that, the developer pushed out an update to the flight, fixing various issues across ODST, Halo 3, and the Master Chief Collection UI. Insiders who have been invited to the latest session can find the full patch notes of the update plus information regarding known issues on the dedicated Halo Support portal here. As usual, 343 is encouraging players to report any bugs they find on these beta builds via the same portal.
It doesn't appear as though the innards of the flight are being altered, with the previously revealed six ODST campaign missions, seven Firefight maps, and Halo 3 multiplayer - for testing hit registration changes - being available still.
The Halo 3: ODST Insider flight is now slated to end on August 31 at 10AM PT. Once the testing concludes, the full release of the highly-anticipated PC version via Halo: The Master Chief Collection shouldn't be far behind.
