Halo Infinite's lack of campaign co-op and Forge level editor at launch was already confirmed by 343 Industries back in August, but now, a schedule adjustment sees the features being pushed back further than originally announced. With the changes, we won't be seeing co-op at least until May 2022, and Forge is even further behind.
Co-op and Forge modes are slated to land during Halo Infinite's Season 2 and Season 3 content stages, respectively. As a Season was supposed to last three months, co-op would have arrived around March, with Forge coming in around June. But alongside the surprise launch of Halo Infinite Multiplayer, 343 said the first content Season would last until May 2022 "to give ourselves more time to ensure Season 2 meets our high quality bar."
Speaking with Eurogamer, studio head Joseph Staten confirmed the upcoming Season's delay also affects co-op and Forge, saying "yes, we are extending Season 1. So our goal still remains what I said before, which is to ship campaign co-op with Season 2 and Forge with Season 3."
"We're just going to take the time to get it right. But the good news is that work is progressing, we're making really good progress, and campaign co-op is as fun to play as it's ever been - and maybe even more so in this new style of game that we've made." Staten added regarding the ongoing cooperative play implementation.
Halo Infinite campaign launches on December 8 across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
