Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC is currently being readied to receive Halo 3, finally bringing the highly acclaimed shooter to the platform. However, that's not all PC players are receiving, with 343 Industries detailing on its latest development update blog that quite a few fixes and new features are incoming to the package.
There is good news for Halo: Reach fans, as it seems audio issues that have been plaguing the PC port, such as the muffled and static sounds, are finally getting fixed. 343 Industries had worked with the Halo 3 and Halo: Reach Xbox 360 versions' legacy sound systems designers to bring the audio back to their original caliber, improving the overall sounds, and resolving artifacts and device switching problems. There is a highly detailed section on the development blog that dives into the massive amount of work that had gone into resolving these.
Also incoming to Halo: MCC with Halo 3's launch is a new customization system for Halo: Combat Evolved multiplayer. For the first time, players will be able to change their visor colors as well as add skins to weapons and vehicles. This is optional, however, as there will be a toggle available in the options to disable seeing these Combat Evolved cosmetics and keep the legacy experience.
There is a new season of cosmetic unlocks incoming as well, this time with 100 new items for players to work towards. Also being implemented is Forge for Halo: Reach, Halo 2: Anniversary, and Halo 3, a new skull in Halo 3 that introduces a jetpack, the new challenges system, updated Halo 3 customizations, and more.
Meanwhile, 343 Industries is investigating hit registration issues, and also in the process of designing features such as a custom game browser, PC and Xbox cross-play, and input-based matchmaking, among others. We should see split-screen and HDR support come to PC in the future as well, since the developer has added those features to the backlog after community feedback.
Halo 3 doesn't have a release date yet on Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC, but considering its massive Insider flight session just concluded, we could see a launch happen in July.
