Today, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8cx, a new Compute Platform that's built from the ground up for PCs and is meant to go head-to-head with an Intel Core i5. Naturally, I ran into the demo room and picked up the first one that I could get my hands on.
First of all, this thing is fast, but it's also running software that I can't get on the Snapdragon 850 devices that I have. For example, Qualcomm also announced native ARM64 Firefox and Asphalt 9 today. Both of them are really fast and responsive, and it's a noticeable difference in performance from using the emulated versions that are available to the public right now.
Then there were the demos. Qualcomm had a booth set up showing a device that was plugged into two 4K monitors. There was another one showing off voice assistants, and another one for cellular connectivity.
