Yesterday, HP released its third firmware update for the Elite x3, raising the version number to 0002.0000.0018.0105 from 0002.0000.0014.0100. At the time, there was no changelog, but the company has now offered one to Neowin.
Here are the issues that were addressed:
Area | Description |
---|---|
Apps | HP Display Tools error popup of “We can’t run that here” is fixed. |
HP Device Hub support of accessories firmware upgrade is enabled. | |
Audio | Handsfree double talk tuning parameters updated. |
Camera | QR code not recognized by certain apps such as Whatsapp, WeChat, is fixed. |
Connectivity | 3G support for 2nd SIM card is enabled. |
Stability | Device crash on repeated refresh of certain web sites such as att.com, yahoo.com, is fixed. |
User Interface | Network registration status shown on Action Center pull down. |
There are also some known issues:
Area | Description |
---|---|
Apps | Skype for Business app cannot be launched from Continuum external display. |
Connectivity | LAN port of HP desk dock does not have UI configurations. |
Security | Too many failed unlock attempts, the device will be locked for security reasons. User can unlock the device at https://account.microsoft.com/devices. |
It's always a bit unsettling to see known issues listed in a production-level update, but HP really seems to be keeping on top of the firmware for the Elite x3. The handset was only released in August, and there have already been three new versions offered to users.
We've been testing the device for over a month now and it's a truly impressive Windows phone. Of course, to find out any more than that, you'll have to check out our review, which should be published this Friday.
