Yesterday, Microsoft released its latest driver updates for the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. But predictably, and frustratingly, the company pushed the updates out, but failed to provide any substantial information about what they were intended for, or what changes they might make to users' devices.
It remains unclear why Microsoft is still unable to provide a changelog at the same time as - or perhaps even within an hour or two of - rolling out new updates. Whatever superhuman challenges the company still struggles with on that front, it has now finally published details of its August 30 updates for the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 on its support site.
The changelog reveals that the latest update package actually includes one more driver update than previously indicated. The updates for the two devices are virtually identical, differing only as indicated below:
Windows Update History Name | Device Manager Name |
Microsoft driver update for Surface Management Engine |

Microsoft driver update for Surface UEFI |

Earlier this week, Microsoft released a firmware update for its Surface Pro 3, which is believed to resolve earlier battery performance issues reported by numerous users.
