As the year winds down, companies start shifting focus and planning for the next year. Although a majority of smartphones brands have already released their top-end models for the year, there are still some holdouts. We already knew about Google's event set for October 9, but it now looks like HMD Global has also sent out invites for its own event in October too.
HMD Global has made some phenomenal moves over the past couple of years that started by licensing Nokia and then strategically releasing a variety of phones, which has, in turn, raised the brand's profile. Although the company has released more than a dozen different phones over the course of two years, it still has not a managed to unleash a flagship that could be considered a threat to the likes of Samsung and LG.
Although there aren't any clues as to what could be announced, there is the possibility that it could be the recently leaked Nokia 7.1 Plus. It could also be the highly anticipated penta-lens device we have seen so much of this month, but there have been rumors that Nokia is delaying that until 2019. Whatever it is, we won't have to wait long, as HMD Global's Nokia event will take place next week in London on October 4.
