In January, HTC unveiled an all-new smartphone in the form of the U Ultra. Although it has a unique secondary display and beautiful design, it wasn't quite the handset some had hoped for. Fast-forward a few months later, and it appears that the firm is ready to unveil something entirely new.
Today, HTC revealed a new teaser site for an upcoming device that will make its debut on May 16. While you can't make out the device in full on the website, it does give clues that indicate it will be the much rumored 'U', codenamed Ocean. If previous leaks are accurate, the new handset will come with a unique touch sensitive bezel being dubbed Edge Sensor, that will allow users to perform simple actions like scrolling simply by swiping the outer frame of the phone.
More recently, we reported that the U could excel in the audio department by offering an array of microphones to capture richer audio, along with an HDR+ mode for the camera that will allow users to live-preview images with HDR applied. Furthermore, it could arrive with water- and dust-resistance with an IP57 rating.
As for its design, the U will most likely borrow from the U Ultra and come with a highly glossy exterior with a glass front and back. HTC will simply offer a live stream like they did previously for the One A9 and HTC 10.
