While the world waits for Apple to send out press releases for its long awaited iPhone 5 announcement, other smartphone makers are not being shy about getting their holiday product reveals out to the public and the media. Today, several press outlets such as Engadget revealed that Taiwan-based HTC will hold a media event in New York City on the morning of September 20. No other info about what will be discussed at the event was revealed.
HTC has already been busy this month. On September 1, the company announced two new Windows Phone 7-based smartphones, the Radar and the Titan, that are scheduled to be released in Europe later this year (you can check out Neowin's hands on impressions of both the HTC Titan and the HTC Radar right now). It's possible that the New York City press event could offer up more info about when these two smartphones will show up in the US market.
Other possible reveals include the HTC Amaze, a powerful Android-based smartphone that was leaked a few days ago. Engadget points out that other Android-based phones that could get their official announcements on September 20 include the Holiday, the Bliss, and the Vigor.
HTC has had a lot of success in the past couple of years, especially with their Android smartphones. This past July the company announced it had shipped 12.1 million devices in the April-June quarter and net profits of $607 million which is almost double what the company recorded in the same time period a year ago.
