HTC has revealed tha,t starting today, it is rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to the U11 Life smartphone in the United States.
The U11 Life was launched last month in the U.S. through T-Mobile and as an unlocked device through various retailers and HTC's online store for a price of $349. At launch, the device shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat topped with HTC Sense.
Now, Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC, has revealed that the unlocked version of the device will begin receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update in the U.S. starting today. It is interesting to note that the global variant of the device is based on the Android One specification and comes with stock Oreo out of the box.
HTC u11 life unlocked customers! You're next with Oreo! It's available to download starting today! Thank you!

Owners of the T-Mobile variant of the device will most likely have to wait a bit longer since carrier clearance for Android updates often adds delays to such rollouts. Others who already have the Android One variant will not have to worry about such inconveniences while they continue to receive updates directly from Google.
