VR headsets are by no means cheap, but HTC is now looking to sweeten the deal on its Vive headset with a new offer. For a limited period starting today, all Vive purchases will come with a free pre-order of Bethesda's upcoming Fallout 4 VR.
The Vive already received a $200 price cut back in August, dropping it to $599 for a full kit, including the headset, motion controls, and base stations. The addition of a free $60 game on top, considering it is essentially the entire Fallout 4 base game remade for VR, may be a good incentive for potential customers.
Regarding the promotion, Vive Studios GM Joel Breton said the following:
"Fallout 4 VR is the most anticipated title for VR this holiday, and the game development team at Bethesda Game Studios is delivering on the promise with a full-length AAA open-world game that takes advantage of Vive's incredible room-scale immersion for a mind-blowing experience in the Wasteland. The promise of a game with near endless content, including hundreds of locations, characters, and quests, fully playable in VR, is something that we have been focused on providing for the VR gaming community."
The promotion will run until December 31 or while supplies last, with the pre-order being offered as a redeemable code to all new purchases of an HTC Vive. The game code must also be redeemed before December 31. Note that anyone who cashes in on this offer will still have to wait a while before they get to play the game, as Fallout 4 VR is slated for launch on December 12.
